Chingiz Abassov

Chingiz Abassov is contemporary artist representing Azerbaijan art.

Although the artist works predominantly outside Azerbaijan, in Europe and the US, his works demonstrate the strong connection to his cultural roots. Despite displaying a wide genre, from figurative to cityscapes or portraiture, Abassov’s style is instantly recognisable through the bold brushwork and a unique combination of the expressive, colourful approach of the Azerbaijan school of painting and traditions of the Western realism.

The artist’s formal education includes studying at Azerbaijan State Art college Azim-zade in Baku and at the Academy of Arts formerly known as the Vera Mukhina School of Higher Art and Design in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Since the 90s Abassov has held numerous personal exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions worldwide. Chingiz Abassov is the author of copious private and public commissions. The artist’s works are in many private and public collections throughout the world.
